What are you in for
The way to a woman’s heart can be plenty, but in this fantasy opera the only way a suitor can win over Chinese princess Turandot is by taking on three riddles. If they fail, they are executed.
Set in an exotic world depicted by elaborate sets and Puccini’s powerful aria, Turandot takes you on an almost impossible quest to win the love of a brutal princess by a brave suitor. Travel back to ancient China as you lay witness to the events unravelling in the Peking Imperial Palace. Be ready to watch over hundred performers, in colourful costumes, ornate masks, body paints and red drapes, dancing in a unique style involving martial arts and stylized movements.
Renowned conductor Christian Badea will lead a vibrant score of the usual high standards. The thrilling cast has Amber Wagner as the ice princess with Andeka Gorrotxategi as the man determined to win her heart. Hyeseoung Kwon reprises her touching turn as slave Liù.
The opera is performed in Italian with surtitles screens above the stage that translate the words into English and Chinese.
