What are you in for
On a summer afternoon as the sun sets across the Sydney Harbour, the doors of the Sydney Opera House open to welcome you for an evening of music, merry-making and entertainment.
Join the finest opera singers as they perform some of the famous arias from Bizet, Rossini and Verdi, accompanied by piano. They will jump, yell, trill, whisper in operatic glory, hitting precisely the right notes.
Stamp your feet – a fun tradition particularly when the singers perform a popular aria. When there is a gap in the music, don’t be surprised if someone starts clapping and the audience follows – it is a common ritual during such concerts!
The pieces that you will hear are:
Rossini: Largo al factotum from The Barber of Seville
Bizet: Excerpts from Carmen
Delibes: Flower Duet from Lakme
Bizet: Au fond du temple saint duet from The Pearlfishers
Verdi: Brindisi from La Traviata
Puccini: Nessun dorma from Turandot and E lucevan le stelle from Toscas
Pick your seats!
Premium Reserve seats are the best in the house, located in the middle of the theater.
A-Reserve seats surround the Premium Reserve seats. You will be viewing the stage at a slight angle.

So there’s no last-minute rush please arrive at the start point 15 minutes early. The ushers will close the doors at show time and may not allow latecomers in until a suitable gap in the performance.
Check your phone and other electronic devices, and anything else that might go beep or ring or buzz: make sure they are all off. A glowing screen can also be distracting to those around you so don't check your phone during the performance.
Photography, sound recording or any kind of filming is not permitted during the performance but you're welcome to take photos before and after the performance and at interval.
It’s a lot of fun to put on your glamorous best for a night at the opera, but casual dress is perfectly acceptable. There’s no compulsory dress code – wear what you’ll feel comfortable in. It can get cold in the theater, so consider an extra layer.
